The Antony Parish Council convened on June 29th, 2021, to discuss and approve various community matters, ranging from significant amenity upgrades to ongoing maintenance projects and financial reports.

Key Decisions

  • New Play Equipment Approved: The Council voted to purchase new play equipment for both Antony and Wilcove play areas. This includes a timber trail for Wilcove Playpark and a Rota net climber for Antony Playpark. These will be funded 50% from the Solar Benefit Fund and 50% from the Precept.
  • Antony Village Hall Lease: A 25-year lease for the Antony Village Hall was formally agreed upon.
  • Planning Application Discussions: Future planning applications will now be discussed during full Parish Council meetings to ensure they are open to the public.

Community Projects & Updates

  • Traffic and Road Safety:
    • Yellow lines at Tregantle are scheduled to be painted before next March.
    • New signs for the Car Park are expected to be erected soon.
    • Highways is considering reintroducing "no stopping" signage under the clearway signs on Military Road.
    • Efforts are underway to improve safe pedestrian access on Pengelly Hill.
    • The Council is investigating options to reduce the speed limit in Wilcove, especially given the absence of pavements.
    • "No parking" signs for the Wilcove jetty are being pursued.
  • Village Amenities & Maintenance:
    • The memorial bench for D Pidgen is being installed.
    • The Antony and Crafthole Circulatory scheme has been deemed defunct, with alternative road improvements planned for Sheviock and Antony.
    • Thirty trees from the Woodland Trust scheme are still awaiting placement by Councillor Shepherd.
    • An overhanging hedge near Ivy Cottage in Antony has been resolved.
    • Work to clear the path opposite Carew Arms (outside Rose/Elm/Ivy cottages) is awaiting action from Cornwall Council.
    • The village defibrillator, previously housed in the phone box, will be relocated to the side of the Carew Arms.
    • Cherry trees have been planted in memory of former Councillor Carter, and other cherry blossom trees have been planted in Antony.
    • New swing seats have been purchased and replaced in Antony Playpark.
    • A Tree Preservation Order for a tree near Carew Arms is currently with Cornwall Council for approval.
  • Broadband Initiative: Councillor Bulmer is actively investigating opportunities for villages to benefit from a superfast fibre broadband scheme, funded by Openreach.

Finance Matters

  • Asset Register: The updated Asset Register as of June 30th, 2021, was reviewed and approved, indicating total assets of £30,296.
  • Solar Benefit Fund: The Solar Benefit Fund report was approved, showing allocations of £3,578.50 for Antony and £6,344.84 for Wilcove.
  • Payments & Funds: Various routine payments for village maintenance, services, and amenities were approved. The Bank Reconciliation Report showed total available funds of £30,969.21 as of June 30th, 2021.

Planning Applications

  • The planning application PA21/01782/81 for a Sunwell Farm extension received approval from Cornwall Council.

Community Information

  • Torpoint police encourage villagers to report anti-social crime through the online portal or by calling 101.
