Key Decisions & Actions
- Highways Issues: Councillor Ewert will organise a walk-through of the parish with Council members and Mr Glassup to address various highways issues raised.
- "20 is Plenty" Scheme: The Council decided to wait for more information from Cornwall Council before making a decision on pursuing the "20 is plenty" speed reduction scheme, which has an estimated cost of £5,500 - £6,000.
- Pengelly Hill Pedestrian Access: Cornwall Highways currently has no plans to pursue the safe pedestrian access project on Pengelly Hill.
- Wilcove Phone Box Use: Permission has been granted for the Wilcove Women's Institute (WI) to use the phone box in Wilcove for a trial period of 6 months.
- Playpark Equipment Contacts: Councillor Bulmer (Antony) and Councillor Murray (Wilcove) have been appointed as the main contact points for playpark equipment installations in both locations.
- Tregantle Parking Issues: The Council is awaiting the completion of a consultation regarding parking issues at Tregantle. Double yellow lines will be painted once this is done. Concerns were raised about potential police objections and public awareness of verge parking rules, with the Council considering signage.
- Wilcove Jetty No Parking Signs: Councillor Knott will follow up on the installation of "no parking" signs at Wilcove jetty.
Community Projects & Amenities
- Memorial Bench: The memorial bench for D Pidgen has now been concreted in place.
- Woodland Trust Tree Scheme: Councillor Shepherd still has 30 trees to be planted. The Clerk will contact Maker with Rame Parish Council recreational committee and Rame Outdoors to explore planting them in the Community Orchard in Kingsand.
- Wilcove to Wacker Path: The Council agreed to pursue this path project with Antony Estates, with further discussion planned during a future Councillor day.
- Path Clearing near Carew Arms: Councillor Ewert will contact Cormac to ensure the pavement opposite Carew Arms, near Rose/Elm/Ivy Cottage, is cleared of vegetation as it is currently almost impassable.
- Abbotscourt Lane Hedge Trimming: The hedges near the allotments on Abbotscourt Lane are to be trimmed, with assurance received that this will be addressed.
- Wacker Quay Concerns: Health and safety concerns were raised regarding the picnic area at Wacker Quay, including the presence of deer and ticks, a missing seat, and a safety rail that needs replacing. The Clerk will write to the Tamar Trust to address these issues.
- Wilcove Moorings Management: Concerns were voiced that the Wilcove foreshore and lake are not being managed properly by the Wilcove Moorings Association. The Clerk will invite Councillor Knott and members of the Mooring committee to the next meeting to discuss these concerns.
- Floral Boats in Wilcove: Councillor Shepherd and Councillor Murray have refurbished two dinghies for siting in the village and plan to approach the Wilcove gardening club to assist with planting them up. No specific budget has been allocated for this beautification project.
Finance Matters
- Payments Approved: The Council approved payments totalling £3,936.58 for various services and projects, including playground maintenance, grass cutting, web hosting, and other operational costs.
- Total Funds Available: As of September 6th, 2021, the total funds available to the Council are £34,186.46. Excluding the Solar Community Benefit Fund, the Parish Council funds available as of July 30th, 2021, were £24,263.12.
- Income Received: The Council received £491.00 from the Wilcove Moorings Association fee and a precept/grant of £6,656.93.
