The Antony Parish Council met on April 12th, 2016, to discuss a range of community projects, financial updates, and ongoing local issues. Key discussions included progress on new play park equipment, village improvements, and financial approvals.
Community Updates & Local Amenities
- Police Report: Two incidents were reported: one criminal damage and one drugs offence.
- Tree Preservation Order: An application for a tree preservation order in Cove Meadow has been submitted and is awaiting feedback from Cornwall Council.
- Defibrillator: The council is investigating the possibility of placing a defibrillator in the Wilcove Telephone Box.
- Village Noticeboards: Two new village noticeboards have been ordered at a cost of £800.
- Antony Playpark Equipment: New play equipment for Antony Playpark has been ordered for £2010 (after a 15% discount), with an installation date to be confirmed. Funding of £3,083 from the Antony/St. John Parish Solar Power Park has been received and will be used for this equipment.
- Hedge Trimming: Hedges at Hollong Park and Road of Abbots Court remain untrimmed; photos will be sent to Cornwall Council.
- Pengelly Hill Traffic: A follow-up letter will be sent to St. Austell Brewery to request a written response regarding traffic issues on Pengelly Hill.
- Parking Enforcement: Cluster Parking enforcement has officially started.
- Collapsed Wall: Antony Estates are addressing the collapsed wall in Wilcove.
- Bus Shelter: The bus shelter has been repainted by Councillor Pidgen at no cost to the Parish Council.
- Antony Village Hall: Antony Village Hall requires essential repairs and significant funding. The Hall Committee will provide final costings to the Parish Council for consideration of a potential funding contribution.
- Thanckes Tank Demolition: The demolition of Thanckes Tank appears to be ongoing and is expected to finish soon.
- Pengelly Park Parking: The council supported the car parking space application for 5 Pengelly Park.
- Wacker Quay Funding: Councillor Lobb will follow up on potential funding for Wacker Quay from the Tamar Community Trust.
- Lynher View Parking: Parking issues at Lynher View appear to have resolved themselves, and Councillors will continue to monitor the situation.
- Footpath Maintenance: Councillors will inspect local footpaths and advise Cormac of any areas requiring maintenance.
- Play Equipment Preservative: Approval was given to purchase preservative for the Parish play equipment.
- Pengelly Close Parking: Parking spaces at Pengelly Close are unallocated and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Antony Planters: Councillor Lobb has agreed to maintain the planters in Antony.
- Wilcove Tree Issue: Antony Estates will be informed about an unstable tree near the Wilcove Phone Box, with a request for remedial action.
- Antony Playpark Fencing: Councillors Lobb and Pidgen will investigate and repair a fencing post at Antony Playpark.
- Wilcove Brook Tree: Work will be arranged to tidy up a tree near the brook in Wilcove.
Financial Matters
- The financial report as of March 31st, 2016, shows total receipts of £13,530.62 and total payments of £9,574.46.
- A final year carry forward of £14,750.40 includes £3,083 specifically reserved for Community Benefit Projects.
- The 2016/17 budget was reviewed and approved by all Councillors.
- An annual playground inspection for £125 was approved.
- Replacement roses for the Millennium Tree were approved.
- Payments totaling £708.70 were approved for various costs, including clerk wages, Moorland Joinery, Cornwall Association of Local Councils, and clerk postage/admin.

The next Antony Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 26th, 2016, at 7:30 PM at Antony Village Hall, to be followed by the Annual Parish Meeting.
