April 14th 2015
The Antony Parish Council met to discuss various community matters, including local
maintenance, public safety, and administrative updates. Key decisions were made to
address resident concerns and ensure continued local services.
Community Updates & Projects
- Police Report: No incidences were reported for the Parish in April 2015.
However, an incident of anti-social behaviour in Wilcove woods was reported
to the police (Log no 437 1/4/2015). - Wilcove Signage: Sign clips for the 'Wilcove' sign have been ordered and
are awaiting installation once materials are sourced. - Local Strimming Work: Mr L Parsons is permitted to carry out light
strimming work in the area. - Pengelly Park Car Parking: The Council will send a letter to residents
reminding them that one parking space is allocated per residence. Cornwall
Council is aware of the complaint. - Antony Church Steps: Cornwall Council believes the problem lies with the
wall, not the steps, and has no funds for repair. Mr B Carter will visit the
site, and the Clerk will clarify ownership of the wall. - Tree Preservation Order: The Clerk will obtain a location map related to
this order. - Playground Inspections: Annual playground inspections have been agreed
to proceed. - Roadblock St Austell Ales Lorry: The Clerk will contact St Austell
Brewery to suggest an advisory route into and out of Wilcove that avoids
Pengelly Hill. - Neighbourhood Watch: 12 notices are required (six for each village).
Councillor G Shepherd will source these. - Tregantle Poo Bins and Litter: The Council noted the volume of litter on
the beach and the absence of poo bins at the walkway's foot. No action will
be taken regarding these. - Pedestrian Crossing (Antony Village): The Council agreed to support a
request for a pedestrian crossing near the Village shop and Hollong Park, a
busy road used by schoolchildren. The Clerk will submit a request to Cornwall
Council Highways. - Sainsbury's Car Park Markings (Torpoint): The Clerk will inform Torpoint
Council about faded road markings that could cause confusion. - Children's Play Park: The Clerk will seek clarification on whether this is
a designated no-smoking zone. - Wilcove Woodland Walk: Following anti-social behaviour reports, the
Council agreed to source a "Private" sign for placement on the gates. - Parish Council Name: The Council confirmed its correct name is "Antony
Parish Council," and the Clerk will ensure all documents and the website
reflect this.
Staffing & Administration
- New Parish Clerk Appointed: Mrs Andrea Johnson has been appointed as the
replacement Parish Clerk at £9.009 per hour for 24 hours per month. The
Clerk will draft a standard employment contract. - Auditor Appointment: The Town Clerk of Torpoint Council will audit the
2014/15 Parish Accounts. - Public Liability Insurance: The Clerk will check public liability
insurance for contractors Parsons and Vigus.
