The Antony Parish Council met on Monday, April 22nd, 2024. The meeting covered various community matters, financial reports, and approvals, with significant discussions around local amenities and environmental concerns.

Key Decisions & Actions

  • Play Area Improvements: New benches have been purchased and installed in Wilcove play park. Councillors Lobb and Bulmer will consult with local residents to propose new play equipment for the Antony play area.
  • Antony Phone Box: Maintenance work on the Antony phone box is ongoing.
  • Tree Safety and Drainage Issues: Discussions are scheduled with Mr Trinnick of Antony Estates concerning unsafe trees in Antony, as well as grating, drainage, and flooding issues in Wilcove. The Clerk will also inform Cornwall Council, Cornwall Housing, and County Councillor Ewert about these issues.
  • Public Rights of Way (PROW): Councillor R Knott is investigating the process for applying for the relevant Public Right of Way for Ferry Lane in Wilcove.
  • Wilcove Mirror: A replacement convex mirror is now in place in Wilcove.
  • Memorial Tree: A memorial tree for J Vigus has been purchased and planted.
  • Spring Flood Pothole: The pothole outside Maryfield house, caused by spring flooding, has been resolved.
  • Wilcove Hedge/Bench Trimming: A village clean-up event for hedge and bench trimming in Wilcove was organised by Councillor Murray.
  • Wilcove Mooring Lease: Discussions are pending with Mr Trinnick of Antony Estates regarding the expired Wilcove mooring lease.
  • New Noticeboards: Two new noticeboards are expected to be delivered on April 25th, 2024.

Community Projects & Amenities

  • Antony Village Hall Funding: An application for £3,900 from the Solar Benefit Fund was approved for the Antony Village Hall. This funding will support the installation of a village defibrillator and new flooring for the hall.

Financial Overview

  • April 2024 Payments: Payments totalling £1,233.03 for April 2024 were reviewed and approved. An invoice of £441.00 for Wilcove moorings and foreshore rental lease will be held until the new lease is approved.
  • Solar Benefit Fund: The Solar Benefit Fund report was reviewed and approved, showing total available funds of £4,105.90 as of March 31st, 2024.
  • Annual Financial Reports: The Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) for 2023/24 was approved. The gross income for the year was £18,190 and gross expenditure was £22,160, allowing the council to remain exempt from external audit.
  • Total Funds Available: As of March 31st, 2024, the total Parish Council funds available were £14,044.47 (excluding the Solar Community Benefit Fund).

The Planning report was reviewed and approved, including several applications which had received approval by Cornwall Council, and two new applications noted by the Parish Council:

  • Additional Applications Noted: Antony House Stables (PA24/02384) and Tregantle Fort (PA24/02063).
