December 10th 2024
The Parish Council Meeting was held on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at Antony Village Hall. It is noted that no members of the public were in attendance at the public forum section of the meeting.
Key Updates & Decisions
- The minutes from the previous meeting on October 30th, 2024, were reviewed and unanimously approved.
- Antony Play Area: Maintenance has been completed. Councillor Lobb and Councillor Bulmer will investigate new playground equipment for the 2025/2026 financial year.
- Wilcove Phone Box: Maintenance requires further follow-up by Councillor Bulmer and Councillor Murray.
- Noticeboards: All new noticeboards are now in place.
- Wilcove Moorings Lease: The lease is being reviewed and discussions will continue in March 2025 regarding whether it remains with the Parish Council or transfers to the Mooring Association.
- Antony Trees: Safety work on trees in Antony is ongoing, with Antony Estates still in the process of providing quotes.
- Antony Crossing / Bus Stop: The new crossing is complete and appears to have helped slow traffic. Cornwall Council is planning to remove the Antony Hill bus stop.
- Dog Bags and Dispensers: Dog bag dispensers have been installed and are being used; Councillor Murray and Councillor Bulmer will install additional signs.
- Pengelly Hill Cycle Path/Walkway: This project is awaiting funding from Antony Estates.
- Parish Council Website: The Antony Parish Council website will be moved to a .gov.uk domain, and a new email address is being set up for the Clerk.
- Hollong Park Tree: A tree believed to belong to Antony Estate has fallen into a garden at Hollong Park. The Clerk will follow up with Antony Estate regarding this.
- Planning Applications: The application for Tregantle Fort was unanimously approved.
Financial Matters
- Payments for December were reviewed and unanimously approved by the full Parish Council.
- The Parish Precept for 2025/26 has been set at £17,500. This will cover several one-off costs:
- £1,100 for refurbishment of the Wilcove phone box.
- £400 for VE Day celebration donations to village halls.
- £500 for a new Churchyard handrail and step.
- The precept also factors in a £625 community tax adjustment from second homes (10 properties in Antony Parish are subject to a 100% Council Tax premium).
- The Solar Community Benefit Fund remains at £135.90 available as of December 31st, 2024.
Local Services & Infrastructure Updates
- A38 Road Improvements: These improvements are ongoing.
- Tunnel Refurbishment: Refurbishment work on the tunnel is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
- Saltash Recycling Centre: The booking system for the recycling centre at Saltash has been successful.
- Torpoint Adult Education Centre: This centre is scheduled to close due to budget constraints.
- Crime Rates: Devon and Cornwall Police have reported a reduction in crime rates across SE Cornwall.
