The Antony Parish Council met on December 3rd, 2019, to discuss a range of village matters, including community projects, financial approvals, and local safety initiatives.
Key Decisions
- New Councillor Co-opted: Mr Peter Bulmer has been officially co-opted as a new member of the Antony Parish Council.
Community Updates & Projects
- Pengelly Hill Sign: The new sign for Pengelly Hill has still not been erected by Cormac. The Clerk will follow up on this.
- Wilcove Community Playground: The matting at the playground has not yet been removed, and Councillor Carter will obtain a quote for this work. Mrs Butcher has reached out to the Wilcove Community Association for assistance with funding for playground upgrades. The Clerk will write to the Association to address their questions. Councillor Coward is following up with Antony Estates regarding the hedge in the playground area.
- Wilcove Footpath Sign: The sign posts for the footpath from Horson to Antony Drive have not yet been delivered. The Clerk will follow up on this.
- Antony Speedwatch & Highways Safety: Serious concerns were raised regarding a new road layout for the Rame Peninsula, particularly the Antony village road junction. Speedwatch equipment is being purchased by the Community Network Panel for 11 parishes, and the Council has requested that traffic monitors be placed at each end of Antony village on the A374. The Clerk will invite Councillor Trubody to a site meeting with Antony Parish Councillors to discuss these concerns.
- Antony Defibrillator: A defibrillator has now been acquired and will be located in the village telephone box once training has been provided.
- Abandoned Car: The Clerk will report again on an abandoned car in Pengelly Close.
Financial Overview
- Precept 2020/21: The Precept (the portion of council tax collected by the Parish Council) for 2020/21 has been approved at £13,125, which represents a 5% increase from the 2019/20 Budget.
- Approved Payments: A total of £643.97 in payments was approved for the period of November to December 2019.
Upcoming Matters
- Woodland Walk Signs: A request from the Wilcove Community Association for £121.50 for new signs will be discussed at the January meeting.
- Memorial Bench: The possibility of a memorial bench for D Pidgen will also be discussed at the January meeting.
