The Antony/Wilcove Parish Council convened on December 9th, 2014, to discuss a range of community matters, including local safety, traffic concerns, village amenities, and upcoming plans.

Community Safety

  • The Wilcove Neighbourhood Watch reported an attempted break-in at the Wilcove Inn and attempts to break into cars in the Village, with involved individuals apprehended by local police.
  • The police report for November indicated five incidents in the Antony/Wilcove Parish: two dwelling burglaries, one assault, one theft, and one vehicle interference.

Village Infrastructure & Amenities

  • Following a complaint regarding road closure during the Wilcove Inn bonfire and fireworks display on November 8th, the Landlord confirmed that for any future events causing disruption, they will provide ample notice to residents and present all necessary permissions and insurances to the Parish Council.
  • Concerns were raised about traffic speed and poor visibility at various locations within Wilcove Village. Councillors D Pidgen and G Shepherd will investigate these issues, and the Clerk will contact Cornwall Council for assistance.
  • Regarding the proposed new sign at the entrance to Wilcove Village, the Clerk will forward a photograph of the site to Cornwall Council for approval.
  • The Council noted a possible offer made to run the Ring O'Bells Pub in Antony Village.
  • The Parish Council offered its support for a proposed new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) pitch to be located behind the existing sports hall in Torpoint.
  • Councillors G Shepherd and D Pidgen will investigate the set of steps leading to Antony School on Public Footpath number 5, as part of the wall has collapsed and new steps are required.

Planning Applications

  • The Council supported a retrospective application for the erection of a timber-framed building as a store for agricultural equipment at Kingdon Farm, Sunwell Lane, St John (PA14/10891).
  • The Council supported the retention of a single-storey rear extension at 7 Cove Meadow, Wilcove (PA14/10711).

Financial Matters

  • The Parish Council unanimously voted to keep the Precept for 2015/16 at the same level, £6,000.
  • Routine accounts for payment were approved.

The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 27th, 2015, at 7:30 PM in the Wilcove Village Hall.
