February 11th 2014

The Antony/Wilcove Parish Council met on February 11th, 2014, to discuss
several important community matters, including updates on the new play
area, local signage, and proposed developments.

Community Updates & Projects

  • New Play Area: The play equipment is scheduled for installation on
February 26th, 2014. An official opening ceremony for the play area
will take place on Sunday, March 9th, 2014.
  • Memorial Bench: A memorial bench in the name of Stephen Watts, a
former Parish Councillor, will be placed in the play park at Antony.
The Clerk will investigate the ordering and cost of the bench and
    plaque.
  • Development Plan Meeting: A successful community meeting was held
on January 25th to gather input for the development plan. A suggestion
was made for a recycling centre to be placed at Fiscard, and the Clerk
will approach Torpoint Town Council regarding this idea.

Planning & Local Environment

  • Tregantle Corner Signage: The Parish Council will not grant
permission for "The Adventure Bay Surf School" to re-instate signage
at Tregantle Corner, following numerous complaints about signs
distracting motorists. Discussions are ongoing with Cornwall Council
Highways regarding a professionally made directional sign and the
placement of a 'No Advertising' sign in the area.
  • Proposed Jetty Extension: Torpoint Town Council has confirmed
their support for a meeting to be held in Wilcove with the developers
of the jetty once the Planning Application has been submitted. The
Clerk will confirm the expected submission date.
  • Solar Farm: St John Parish Council has informed the council that
they have no objection to the proposed solar farm planning
    application.
  • Planning Applications: There were no new planning applications to
    discuss at this meeting.
  • Tregantle Car Park: The Clerk will continue to pursue the matter
of the Parish Council taking on the car park at Tregantle.

Financial Matters

  • Accounts for payment were approved as presented, covering items such
as salaries, flowers, meeting expenses, and plants.

General Information

  • Police Report: The January police report indicated nil incidents
    for Antony and Wilcove.

due to recent adverse weather conditions.
