The Antony Parish Council held its meeting on February 23rd, 2016. Key discussions included progress on community projects, important financial approvals, and updates on local planning matters impacting the village.
Key Decisions & Actions
- Solar Power Park Funding: Councillor Trubody will arrange a meeting to address the unresolved funding for the Antony/St. John Parish Solar Power Park. This meeting is scheduled for March 7th, 2016.
- Parking Enforcement: The Council approved funding for additional traffic enforcement visits in the Rame peninsula, costing £107 per year, to improve parking management.
- Footpath Maintenance: The contract for Local Maintenance Partnership (LMP) footpath strimming will not be renewed. Cormac will now be responsible for this work in the Parish.
- Neighbourhood Plan: The Draft Neighbourhood Plan was formally adopted, subject to no major changes in the current published document.
Community Services & Amenities
- Cove Meadow Tree Preservation: An application for a Tree Preservation Order has been submitted for Cove Meadow.
- Wilcove Telephone Box: Councillor Knott is following up on the proposal to establish a book and jigsaw swap centre within the Wilcove telephone box.
- Noticeboards: Councillors Shepherd, Lobb, and Pidgen are investigating suppliers for replacement noticeboards.
- Antony Play Park: Councillors Shepherd and Lobb will investigate suppliers for new play park equipment. The Clerk will also contact Sovereign Playgrounds to negotiate a discount for Buzz equipment.
- Hedges Maintenance: The Clerk will follow up on issues concerning the hedges at Hollong Park and the Road of Abbots Court.
- Pengelly Hill Traffic: The Clerk will send a further letter to St. Austell Brewery regarding ongoing traffic concerns on Pengelly Hill.
- Rame Peninsula Traffic Management: Councillors will compile a list of traffic issues to discuss with Adrian Drake as part of a feasibility study for the Rame Peninsula.
- Rose Cottage Pavement: The pavement near Rose Cottage has been cut back.
- Wilcove Wall: Antony Estates has confirmed they are addressing the collapsed wall in Wilcove.
- Bus Shelter Painting: Councillors Lobb and Pidgen have offered to provide materials and paint the bus shelter.
Financial Matters
- Financial Report: As of February 11th, 2016, total receipts were £10,446.93 and total payments were £8,952.09.
- Invoices Approved: Several invoices were approved for payment, including Zurich Insurance, Wilcove Hall Rent, Torpoint Town Council, Clerk's wages, and Antony Estate Rent. Notably, the Antony Estate Rent invoice was adjusted from £15 to £5.
- Contractor Review: The Council agreed to continue services from Mr. Bulmer at last year's price, pending written confirmation of rates and insurance. The Clerk will review all contractors for the Council.
Planning Updates
- Ye Olde Post Office: A pre-application consultation for a new house adjacent to Ye Olde Post Office, Antony, was discussed.
- Highway Stores: Planning approval has been granted for Highway Stores, Antony.
Community Safety
- Police Report: Two incidents were reported in the Parish during January 2016.
Upcoming Meetings & Engagement
- Antony Village Hall Funding: A representative from the Village Hall Committee is requested to attend the next Parish Council meeting on April 12th, 2016, to discuss financial assistance for hall repairs.
- Coastal Development Team: Councillor Shepherd will attend the Coastal Development Team meeting on April 13th, 2016, to explore potential funding opportunities beneficial to the Torpoint and Rame communities.
- Thanckes Tank Demolition: Following complaints about noise and weekend working, the Clerk will contact Opa to inform them of resident concerns and inquire about notification of works. The Clerk will also ask Torpoint Town Council to inform Antony of any future work in their area that may affect residents.
