Key Updates

  • Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Riggall is retiring on March 31st, 2018. PCSO Sid Lawrence will be his replacement, with PC Amy Woodridge continuing as a contact for the Council.
  • The Parish Council's website has not been updated since November 2017; PC Riggall is investigating this and the addition of an out-of-hours contact.

Community Projects & Issues

  • Flooding Issues: Flooding near Coach House and in Wilcove remains a concern. Councillor Coward will contact Sir Richard regarding this issue.
  • Playground Equipment: An application for playground equipment was refused due to a fence issue. Councillor Coward will discuss this with Sir Richard.
  • Playground Repairs: Councillors Lobb and Pidgen will undertake essential repairs to the Antony playground once the weather improves.
  • Antony Planters: Councillors Lobb and Coward will address the Antony planters when the weather improves.
  • Wilcove Moorings: No further correspondence has been received regarding the Wilcove moorings contract.
  • Pengelly Close Parking: PC Riggall is investigating parking issues in Pengelly Close.
  • Noticeboards: The Wilcove noticeboard has been repaired. Councillor Carter is arranging the Wilcove grating.
  • Dog Bins: The possibility of providing additional dog bins in Wilcove was discussed and deferred to the next meeting.
  • Dangerous Mooring: The Clerk will contact Dr Moore for an update regarding the dangerous mooring issue.
  • Church Chippings: No funding for Antony church chippings is available from Cornwall Council, and this item has been removed from the agenda.

Planning Applications

  • 4 Pengelly Park, Wilcove: An enforcement notice was raised regarding a business operating from a residential property; the case is now closed with no breach found.
  • Antony House: A fire protection upgrade application has been approved.
  • Freathy Farmhouse: A change of use application to allow weddings is awaiting a decision from Cornwall Council.

Financial Overview

  • The finance report was reviewed and approved by the Council.
  • The insurance premium for 2018/19 was successfully reduced to £412.54 by changing to Came and Co Insurance.
  • The Solar Field Community Benefit Fund received £3,083.20 in January and has £6,579.20 available, after expenditures including £300 to Tamar Community Trust and £60 to Wilcove Gardening Club.
  • A VAT reimbursement of £155.47 was received.
  • A £100 payment was received from St John Parish Council for the use of council computer and printer.
  • Total funds available as of February 6th, 2018, excluding the Community Benefit Fund, are £7,491.06. Including the Community Benefit Fund, total funds are £14,070.87.
  • The council's fixed assets (e.g., play equipment, bus shelters, noticeboards) have a total insured value of £47,482.

Council Matters

  • The Clerk will be in hospital for a minimum of 3-6 weeks from February 11th and will be signed off sick for 3 months. Support will be provided from home, but they will be unable to attend public places. Assistance is being provided by the Clerk from Maker with Rame.
