The Antony Parish Council convened on January 10th, 2019, to discuss a range of local issues impacting the community. Key discussions focused on ongoing projects, updates concerning the Antony Estate, and financial approvals for local services and amenities.

Community Updates

  • Wilcove Grating and Safety Mirror: Installation of a new grating in Wilcove and a safety mirror is currently pending. Councillor Carter will organise the grating installation, and Councillor Shepherd is tasked with completing the mirror installation.
  • Playground Repairs: Necessary repairs for equipment in both Play areas are in hand, with Councillor Carter agreeing to provide the required materials.
  • Hedge Trimming: Mr Turner is expected to undertake hedge trimming in Wilcove, particularly on Pengelly Hill.
  • Bus Stop Improvements: Proposals for improvements to bus stops in Antony were agreed upon by the Council.
  • Highways Issues: Councillor Coward and the Clerk will invite Mr Glassop from Cornwall Highways to review and address highways issues in Antony and Wilcove.

Projects and Funding

  • Solar Benefit Fund: It was agreed that the Solar benefit fund will be divided between both villages, with relevant councillors responsible for its expenditure.
  • Wilcove Woodland Walk: Councillors Shepherd and Knott are tasked with pursuing upgrades and repairs to the Wilcove Woodland walk.
  • Public Footpaths and Coastal Path: The Council unanimously declined Cornwall Council's offer to take over responsibility for maintaining the Public footpaths and South West Coastal Path.

Antony Estate Matters

  • Wilcove Inn: Plans are in motion for the Wilcove Inn to reopen as a wet pub soon, with potential for letting rooms in the future.
  • West Antony Barns: Planning approval has been granted for West Antony Barns, with construction awaiting an EU grant.
  • Higher Tregantle Farm: Planning approval for Higher Tregantle Farm is still pending.
  • Jupiter Point: Due to security concerns, the gate at Jupiter Point will be closed each evening, with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) staffing access 24/7.

Financial Overview

  • The 2018/19 Receipts and Payments Report was reviewed and approved.
  • The Asset Register was reviewed and approved.
  • The Bank Reconciliation as of 28th September 2018 was reviewed and approved.
  • Payments approved for January 2019 include (£276.76) for Clerking and expenses for December 2018, and (£423.41) for insurance, totalling (£700.17).
