The Antony Parish Council met on January 12th, 2023, discussing a range of local issues from play area upgrades to road safety and community funding. Key outcomes include actions on car park restrictions, progress on defibrillator installation, and ongoing financial reviews.
Key Decisions & Actions
- Tregantle Car Park: The council suggested installing a height restriction bar to prevent campervans from parking freely in the back area. The Clerk will raise this with Councillor Ewert.
- Wilcove / Antony Play Areas: A decision to purchase additional play equipment for Antony Play Area has been deferred until the 2023/24 financial year. Councillor Shepherd will obtain eco-friendly matting for the play areas.
- Defibrillator Installation: The defibrillator is awaiting installation at The Wilcove Inn, and signage is still needed. Councillor Shepherd will organize the signage.
- Pengelly Hill Proposed Footpath: Councillor Knott will follow up with R W Carters regarding the preparation of a document for the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
- Electric Scooter Use: It was noted that while electric scooters can be bought, using privately owned ones on public roads is currently illegal. The Clerk will report this to the Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).
- Antony Phone Box: Councillor Lobb will pursue this matter with Ms Ellacott.
- Antony Hill Algae: While algae on one side of the road has been removed, the Clerk will report the remaining problem to Cornwall Council.
- Hollong Park Garages & Abandoned Caravan: The Clerk will request Cornwall Council to look into re-letting these garages and removing the abandoned caravan.
- Roadside Signage: The Clerk will contact Hounster farm to remove Christmas turkey signs.
- Drain Cover & Allotment Hedge: The Clerk will contact Antony Estates to address a missing drain cover near the Woodland walk and to undertake repairs to the allotment hedge in Wilcove.
- Pengelly Park Safety Issues: The Clerk will report safety issues at 13 Pengelly park to Councillor Ewert.
- Unsafe Trees in Antony: The Clerk will contact Antony Estates regarding unsafe trees.
Community Updates
- Tregantle Yellow Lines: Cormac is still waiting for the contractor to paint the lines.
- Wilcove Foreshore Fly-Tipping: This issue has been resolved, all waste removed, and signs erected to deter future fly-tipping.
- Antony Estate Trees: Antony Estate is unable to give away these trees to the local public due to pollution/health and safety reasons.
- Highways Plan & Road Safety: An update on the highways plan for road crossings in Antony and Antony School road safety plans is still awaiting from Cornwall Council.
- Mayor of Cornwall Consultation: The Mayor of Cornwall's public consultation is underway, and residents are encouraged to attend information sessions and provide comments.
- Tregantle/Military Road Junction: A study by Cornwall Highways is awaited.
- Planning Report: The 2022/23 Planning Report was reviewed and approved.
- Rame Community Fund: The Rame Community Fund thanked the Parish Council for their kind donation.
Finance Matters
- Payments Approved: Payments totaling £853.09 (Gross) were approved for December 2022 / January 2023.
- Asset Register Value: The 2022/23 Asset Register report, valued at £46,066, was reviewed and approved.
- Solar Community Benefit Fund: This report was reviewed and approved. As of January 12th, 2023, the fund had £3,235.87 available, with a total expenditure of £3,454.16 for 2022/23, which included £2,800 for Wilcove defibrillators.
- Income Received: An income of £425 was kindly donated to the Parish Council from The Wilcove Inn.
- Receipts and Payments 2022-23: The report showed actual total receipts of £16,781 and actual total payments of £14,861, resulting in a carry forward of £21,459.
- Bank Reconciliation: The bank reconciliation report confirmed total funds available as £21,459.21.
