January 14th 2020

The Antony Parish Council met on January 14th, 2020, at Wilcove Community Hall to discuss ongoing community projects, local planning concerns, and village infrastructure.

Community Projects & Amenities

  • Pengelly Hill Sign: The new sign has not yet been erected by Cormac. The Clerk will follow up on this.
  • Wilcove Community Playground: The matting for the playground has not yet been removed. Councillor Carter is tasked with obtaining a quote for its removal. Councillor Coward has approached Mr. Oatey of Antony Farm regarding the Wilcove Playground area hedge.
  • Wilcove Footpath Sign: The sign posts for the Horson to Antony Drive footpath have not been delivered to Councillor Shepherd. The Clerk will follow up again.
  • Abandoned Car: The Clerk will report the abandoned car in Pengelly Close.
  • Woodland Walk Signs: The Wca requested £121.50 for new signs. Councillor Knott will ask Wca to accept a 50% donation towards this cost, to be funded from the Wilcove allocation of the Solar Farm fund.
  • Memorial Bench: Councillors Bulmer and Lobb will discuss the location and pricing of a memorial bench for D Pidgen. This purchase will be made from the Antony allocation of the Solar Farm fund.
  • Tree Planting Initiative: Councillor Shepherd has applied to the Woodland Trust for a number of trees to be planted throughout the Parish. Councillors Knott and Shepherd will identify suitable planting locations and gain agreement from Ian Rideout and Antony Estate.

Infrastructure & Environment

  • Road Safety at Antony: Concerns were raised by a resident regarding proposed road layout changes in Antony. Councillor Bulmer will draft a letter on behalf of the Parish Council to Cornwall Council to highlight these concerns.
  • South West Water Sewerage Station: An issue concerning the sewerage station was reported by the Clerk and is currently being addressed.
  • Highways and Sat Nav Issues: Discussions took place regarding various highways and sat nav issues in Wilcove, including signage.

Planning Matters

  • Planning Application PA19/08049 (19 Cove Meadow Wilcove): Residents raised concerns about parking at the Village Hall and access arrangements to the pontoon in relation to this application. The Antony Parish Council will add additional comments to the Cornwall Planning portal addressing these concerns.

Financial Updates

  • The Council reviewed and approved various financial reports, including the Financial Management Report, Fixed Asset Register, Solar Benefit Fund, and Bank Reconciliation Report.
  • Payments totalling £773.79 were approved for December 2019 / January 2020, covering items such as clerking services, planting, and insurance.
