The Parish Council Meeting was held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, at Wilcove Community Hall. It's noted that no members of the public were in attendance at the public forum section of the meeting.

Key Updates & Decisions

  • The minutes for the meeting held on December 10th, 2024, were reviewed and unanimously approved.
  • Car Parks: It was confirmed that the car parks at Cawsand and Sainsbury's will not be leased out, and residents with permits may continue to use them.
  • A38 Upgrade: Funding is now in place for the A38 upgrade, which will include the installation of average speed cameras.
  • A374 Dangerous Driving: Concerns about dangerous driving along the A374 were raised by the Parish Council. Residents are recommended to report any witnessed dangerous activity online to the police.
  • Antony Planter: The damaged planter in Antony will be removed in the new financial year.
  • Antony Play Area: Scrap metal is awaiting removal. Councillor Lobb and Councillor Bulmer will arrange grass cutting when the weather improves.
  • Wilcove Phone Box: Maintenance is deferred until the weather improves. Councillor Lobb and Councillor Bulmer are to identify a relocation position for the Hollong Park noticeboard, and relocation work will proceed.
  • Safety Work to Trees in Antony: This work is ongoing. One tree fell in recent storms, and Councillors Lobb and Bulmer will monitor the remaining trees.
  • Antony Crossing / Bus Stop: The removal of the bus stop opposite the Carew Arms is still awaiting contact with Geoff Cadwallader. Reports of dangerous overtaking at this bus stop while the bus is stationary are a concern, and Councillors Bulmer and Lobb will report this to the police.
  • Dog Bags and Dispensers: Dog bag dispensers have been installed and are being used. Councillor Murray and Councillor Bulmer will install more signs. The Clerk will contact Biffa regarding concerns about the unemptied dog bin in Wilcove.
  • Defibrillator outside the Carew Arms: Discussions are ongoing regarding options to replace the defibrillator, and the Parish Council agreed to contribute up to £500 per year towards this.
  • Wilcove Tidal Road: Concerns were raised about rubbish (seaweed, wood, plastic, and glass) collecting on the tidal road, making it dangerous. The Council will contact the responsible agency to arrange for clearing the road using suitable vehicles.
  • Wilcove Sewerage Issues: Remedial work has been completed, and Cornwall Housing will now maintain the pumping station. Residents have been advised of the payment due.
  • Dinky Street Trading Consent: The license for Dinky Street trading has been refused following an objection from Cornwall Highways.
  • Rame Transport Group: The Council agreed to provide a letter of support for proposed bus service improvements.
  • Wilcove Lane Drainage: Water run-off problems on Wilcove Lane due to heavy rain will be followed up with Antony Estate for drainage improvements.
  • Planning Applications: Various planning applications were reviewed. The Council discussed the application for 16 Pengelly Park and agreed to remain neutral, with the Clerk registering this position on the Cornwall Planning portal.

Financial Matters

  • The Council reviewed and unanimously approved financial payments for the period.
  • The Solar Community Benefit Fund has an available balance of £3,219.10, with expenditures totalling £3,970.00.
  • The Parish Council's total funds available as of January 31st, 2025, are £12,662.02.
