January 8th 2014

The Antony/Wilcove Parish Council met on January 8th, 2014, addressing various community matters including progress on the proposed solar farm, plans for the new play area, and upcoming community consultations on local development.

Community Projects & Improvements

  • Play Area Development: A significant step forward for the new play area, with £1000 received from the Wilcove Inn and £2000 from the Wilcove Community Association. The Clerk will proceed with the £1200 deposit for play equipment supply and installation.
  • Tregantle Corner Signs: Private advertising signs have been removed from Tregantle Corner. Owners of any remaining signs have been asked to remove them, and any signs taken down by the Council can be collected.
  • Pengelly Lane: A site meeting with Cornwall Council regarding Pengelly Lane and Antony Village has taken place. The Clerk will follow up to learn the outcome.
  • Wacker and Antony Trail: A volunteer practical day is planned for Sunday, February 9th, 2014, to install two new interpretation sign boards on the trail, explaining its history and features.
  • Wilcove Inn Fundraising: Mr G Shepherd confirmed the Wilcove Inn will continue its fundraising efforts for signage and flower boxes in the area.

Development Plan Consultation

  • A questionnaire is being prepared to gather community input on future developments within the Parish and surrounding area, including preferred locations.
  • This development plan questionnaire and map session will be part of a Coffee Morning scheduled for Saturday, January 25th, 2014, at Wilcove Village Hall.
  • A similar consultation event will be arranged in Antony Village on a date and venue to be confirmed.

Financial Matters

  • Solar Farm Income: It was unanimously agreed that any future income received from the proposed Solar Farm would remain with Antony/Wilcove Parish Council, and not be transferred to the cluster pot.
  • Routine accounts for payment were approved by the Council.

Local Infrastructure & Safety

  • Police Report: The December police report indicated nil incidents for Antony and Wilcove.
  • Road Signs: Councillor W A Lobb highlighted that the 'No Entry' sign to St John's Lane is not illuminated and the '30 mph' sign post at Antony School is completely rusted through. The Clerk will contact Cornwall Council Highways to resolve these issues.
  • Proposed Jetty Extension: There is no new progress to report, but Torpoint Town Council has offered support for a public meeting in Wilcove regarding this proposal.
