The Antony Parish Council met on Wednesday, July 17th, 2019, to discuss various community matters, including significant enhancements planned for the Wilcove Playground, updates on village amenities, and financial reports.

Community Projects & Amenities

  • Wilcove Community Playground Enhancements: The Council is actively planning significant improvements to the Wilcove playpark, considering new play equipment and an orchard or wildflower planted area. An Open Meeting for Wilcove residents is scheduled for July 31st at 7:30 PM at Wilcove Community Hall to discuss these proposals and gather community input.
  • Antony Noticeboard: The Antony village noticeboard has undergone maintenance, receiving a fresh coat of varnish and adjusted hinges.
  • Yonderberry Refuelling Jetty: Work on the refuelling jetty appears to have come to a halt.
  • Solar Benefit Fund Projects: The Council approved £1,539.12 in expenditures from the Solar Benefit Fund for various local projects, including new plants for Antony, a new bench, contributions to the Woodland Walk in Wilcove, and support for the Wacker Quay project.
  • Grit Bins: A proposal was put forward for the Wilcove Art group to paint the village grit bins.
  • Playground Hedges: There are plans to approach Antony Estates regarding the future cutting of hedges in the playground area.

Finance Update

  • Bank Balance: As of July 9th, 2019, the Parish Council holds a total of £21,123 in its bank accounts, with £7,904 specifically reserved for future community benefit projects.
  • Payments Approved: Payments totaling £2,471.38 were approved for various services, including grass control, clerking duties, and playground inspections.
  • Asset Management: The Council's assets across the parish are currently valued at £29,220.
  • Solar Benefit Fund Balance: The Solar Benefit Fund has £7,603.68 available for projects, with £3,047.28 allocated for Antony and £4,556.40 for Wilcove.
  • Income: The Council received £491 from a Wilcove Mooring invoice and a £345 VAT reimbursement from HMRC.
  • Annual Audit: The annual audit has been successfully completed and the report is now available on the Parish Council's website.

Important Village Matters

  • Pengelly Hill Sign: The Council is still awaiting action from Cornwall Council regarding the Pengelly Hill sign.
  • Litter Bin Provision in Wilcove: A proposal to install a new litter bin in Wilcove was declined due to the high annual maintenance cost of £694.20.
  • Dogs in Wilcove Play Area: Cornwall Council has clarified that there is no specific Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in place for Wilcove Playpark regarding dogs.
  • Dangerous BT Cable: A dangerous BT cable has been identified in Antony Playground, and the Clerk will be reporting this issue to BT for urgent attention.
  • Rame Cluster Traffic Regulation Order: The proposed Traffic Regulation Order for the Rame Cluster is currently in its consultation stage.
