The Antony/Wilcove Parish Council convened on July 29th, 2014, addressing various community initiatives, environmental concerns, and village improvements. Key discussions included new village signage, local amenity upkeep, and financial approvals.

Community Updates & Improvements

  • New Village Signage: It was decided that a second sign would be placed at the bottom of Pengelly Hill, in addition to the top, to improve effectiveness. The Clerk will contact Cornwall Council Highways.
  • "Welcome to Wilcove Village" Sign: The Council approved the wording "Welcome to Wilcove Village – Please Drive Carefully" for a new sign. The Twinning Association has kindly allowed their 'Wilcove twinned with Benodet' sign to be moved to the main road, enabling the new wording to be added underneath. Councillor G Shepherd will gather necessary measurements and information for Cornwall Council.
  • Land at Pengelly Park: The request concerning land adjacent to 1 Pengelly Park, Wilcove, is believed to no longer be proceeding.
  • Footpath to Antony School: Councillor W A Lobb will investigate the footpath across the field leading to the school in Antony.
  • Play Area Equipment Checks: The Clerk will create a checklist for the play areas in Wilcove and Antony to ensure that records of equipment conditions are kept up-to-date.
  • Play Park Hedge Cutting: Councillor Lady D Coward will arrange for Mr J Vigus to cut the hedges at the Antony play park.
  • Traffic Management Study: The 'Traffic Management Feasibility Study' document is available for viewing by the Clerk if residents wish to review it.
  • Ring O' Bells Pub: Following investigation, it was determined that no further developments are likely to occur with the 'Ring O' Bells' pub in Antony until a new tenant is found.

Environmental Matters

  • Sunwell Lane Rubbish: Reports of rubbish being dumped at the bottom of Sunwell Lane in the field will be investigated by Councillor W A Lobb.
  • Wilcove Moorings Beach Tidy: The Parish Council noted that the beach in Wilcove village needs tidying. The Clerk will send a letter to the Wilcove Moorings Association requesting their assistance in tidying this area.

Planning Application

  • PA14/06311 – Shadows, Wilcove: Councillors G Shepherd and R W Carter will visit the property regarding a single-storey utility room extension before the Council grants approval.

Financial Approvals

The following significant accounts were approved for payment:

  • Play Inspection Company (Play area inspections): £143.88
  • Mr L Parsons (Strimming): £478.00
  • G Shepherd (Strimming Park Wilcove): £10.00
  • Grant Thornton (External Audit): £120.00

Other Village Matters

  • Police Report: There were 0 recorded crimes in Antony and Wilcove reported.
  • Illegal Parking: Photos of vehicles illegally parked on a grass verge in Wilcove village, owned by Cornwall Council, were presented. The Clerk will forward this to Cornwall Council.
  • Planters at Wilcove Entrance: The decision on placing planters at the entrance to Wilcove Village has been deferred until the new proposed signage is in place.
