The Antony Parish Council met on July 3rd, 2018, addressing various community matters, including progress on local repairs, financial approvals, and important updates regarding village infrastructure and future plans.
Key Decisions
- Dog Bins in Wilcove: Following a vote, the Parish Council decided not to pursue a contract to provide an additional dog bin in Wilcove.
- Policies Approved: The Finance Policy, Standing Orders, and Financial Risk Policy were reviewed and approved by all members of the Council.
- Boundary Commission Proposal: The Council will officially oppose the proposed new boundaries that could see Antony absorbed into a new ward including South Torpoint, the remaining Cluster parishes, Tideford, and St Germans.
Community Projects & Updates
- Antony Planters: All works for the Antony Planters have been completed. An additional £60 was approved to support this project, funded from the Precept.
- Playground Repairs: Repairs at the Antony playground have been kindly completed by Councillors Lobb and Pidgen. The Clerk is tasked with obtaining hard copies of inspection reports and investigating funding opportunities for playground equipment.
- Safety Mirror: Councillor Shepherd will install the newly purchased safety mirror.
- Wilcove to Wacker Footpath: The Clerk will reinvite Mr T Carew Pole and Mr Rideout to a meeting in September to discuss the footpath.
- Hedges near Hollong Park: Hedges in this area have been cut back.
- Food Van in Antony: The food van operating in Antony is on Highways land and has their official permission.
- Emergency Plan: The Council discussed putting together an Emergency Plan for the Parish, with information shared by the Resilience Officer for SE Cornwall. This item will be placed on the next meeting's agenda for further consideration.
- Cluster Meeting Update: Councillor George Trubody provided an update on progress towards securing funding for a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for the Rame Peninsula. This order would involve improving Military Road and extending the Clearway through to Millbrook, at no cost to Antony Parish Council. The Council also agreed to fund an invoice of less than £30 for the Cluster website from the Precept.
- Community Network Update: Councillor George Trubody informed members that the Antony Junction is currently ranked among the top three priorities for road improvements in SE Cornwall.
- Thanckes Tanks Consultation: Councillor Coward will attend the Thanckes Tanks Consultation and provide feedback to Councillors, as members were concerned they had not been directly invited.
- Defibrillator: A second-hand defibrillator has been donated to Councillor Knott and may be installed at the entrance to the Wilcove Community Hall.
- Highways Issues in Wilcove: The Clerk will report dangerous potholes identified in Wilcove, Coombe Park, and Pengelly Hill to P Allen at Cornwall Highways.
- Yonderberry Cottages Dumping: The Clerk will report issues of dumping by grit bins at Yonderberry Cottages to Cornwall Housing.
- Accident in Antony: Following a serious accident in June 2018, Councillor Lobb requested further information about the solar-powered speed warning lights. The Clerk will investigate this matter.
Finance Matters
- All finance reports presented to the Council were reviewed and approved.
- Payments to the Clerk for July and August were approved, subject to appropriate invoices and receipts.
- The annual audit is complete.
Upcoming Information
- Wilcove Newsletter: The Clerk will add the Wilcove newsletter to the Parish Council website for easier access by residents.
