The Antony Parish Council met on June 25th, 2024, at Wilcove Community Hall. This meeting included important updates on local amenities, financial approvals for community projects, and reviews of ongoing village initiatives. Members of the public were also given an opportunity to raise issues and ask questions during the public forum.

Key Decisions

  • The Annual Governance and Accountability Return for the financial year 2023/24 was reviewed and unanimously approved by the full Parish Council.
  • Following discussion, the Parish Council decided not to purchase a bleeding kit for Wilcove.

Community Projects & Updates

  • Play Area Maintenance: Repairs are required at both the Wilcove and Antony play areas. Councillor Murray will be liaising with Hill Ryder to schedule these necessary repairs.
  • Antony Phone Box: Maintenance work has commenced on the project to transform the Antony phone box into a library for adults and children. The budget for this work has been increased from £500 to £1000 to cover required door renovation and electrical work. Councillor Bulmer will continue to act as the liaison for this project.
  • Antony Village Hall Funding: The Parish Council noted that a formal request for funding for the Antony Village Hall has not yet been received. Councillor Bulmer will provide this.
  • Wacker Quay Licence Funding: A funding request of £400 from Tamar Conservation Trust to cover the MOD licence for Wacker Quay was unanimously approved. The Clerk will contact the Trust for updates on the information board, the repair of a seat, and plans for strimming the area.
  • Wilcove Shore Clean-Up: Following a successful clean-up day, the dumpy bags containing rubbish are still awaiting removal. The Clerk will investigate engaging a local contractor for their removal.
  • Wilcove Village Pump Renovation: Discussions were held regarding the historical Wilcove village pump. The Council agreed to allocate a budget of £500 towards this project, aiming to establish a group of interested parties to undertake the renovation.
  • Noticeboard Update: The two new noticeboards are now in place. The Council approved the purchase of an additional noticeboard for Antony, with a budget of £1250 allocated for its purchase and installation.
  • Antony Estate Drainage Improvements: It was noted that Antony Estate has completed drainage improvements on Wilcove Lane. These works are expected to redirect surface water towards Melancholy Pool and the Lynher, reducing flows through the lower part of the village.

Financial Matters

  • Payments totaling £5,984.22 for various services and expenses were reviewed and unanimously approved by the Parish Council.
  • An additional £200 was unanimously approved for Antony village planting.
  • Solar Farm Community Benefit Fund: As of June 30th, 2024, a total of £135.90 is available from the Solar Farm Community Benefit Fund. Recent expenditures from this fund included £70 for strimming and £3,900 for Antony village hall.

Planning Applications

  • Several planning applications for 2024/25 were reviewed. Application PA24/02063 (Tregantle Fort) was noted as withdrawn.
  • For application PA24/02337 (Firleigh Cottage Wilcove), the Parish Council agreed to defer its decision to the listed planning authority.
