The Antony Parish Council met to discuss various community matters, planning applications, and financial reports. Key outcomes include decisions on local amenities, approval of financial reports, and ongoing updates on village projects.
Key Decisions
- Wilcove Defibrillators: The Council agreed to explore other options for the renewal of two defibrillators due in July 2026 before making a decision on the existing lease. Councillor Murray will discuss monthly maintenance checks with managers of the Wilcove Community Hall and Wilcove Inn. The Council also agreed that defibrillator training would be beneficial, and the Clerk will identify potential dates with SWAST (South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust).
- Information Commissioner Office Registration: The Council resolved to register with the Information Commissioner Office (ICO).
- Playground Inspection: The Council accepted the invitation from The Play Inspection Company to book the playground inspection for 2026.
- Antony Village Hall Donation: A donation of £500 from the solar community benefit fund was approved to support the Antony Village Hall, recognizing its role in providing free community events.
Community Projects and Updates
- Antony Play Area: Equipment is in good order, but the foot area of the swings is wearing away.
- Wilcove Phone Box: Painting is awaiting completion; Councillor Murray will follow up.
- Hollong Park Noticeboard Relocation: A ground survey will be conducted before the noticeboard is installed in its new location.
- Safety Work to Trees in Antony: This work is ongoing and is part of the plan of works for Antony Estates.
- Antony Crossing / Bus Stop: The Clerk will follow up with Councillor Ewert for an update on the removal of the bus stop opposite Carew Arms. Police are monitoring the area for dangerous overtaking at the bus stop.
- Dog Bags and Dispensers: Dog bags and dispensers have been distributed.
- Defibrillator outside the Carew Arms: A replacement defibrillator has been donated.
- Planter Covering Petrol Pump in Antony: Awaiting the area to be cleared by Highways; Councillor Bulmer will raise this at the next cluster meeting.
- Wilcove Tidal Road: This matter has been resolved.
- Internet Access in Rural Areas: Councillor Bulmer is investigating delays in Wildanet (internet provider) access in rural areas.
Planning Applications
- Maryfield House Application: Members discussed the application for Maryfield House and had no objection. The Clerk will register this position on the Cornwall Planning portal.
