This meeting saw significant discussions and decisions regarding various community projects, financial matters, and local services, including updates on road improvements, play equipment, and ongoing community initiatives. John Murray was welcomed as a newly co-opted member of the Council.
Key Decisions
- Village Hall Lease: A new 25-year lease for Antony Village Hall has been agreed upon at ( \textsterling 100 ) per annum.
- Play Equipment Purchase: The Council voted to purchase new play equipment for both Antony and Wilcove play areas. This includes a Timber Trail for Wilcove Playpark costing ( \textsterling 5,187 ) plus VAT, and a Rota Net Climber for Antony Playpark at ( \textsterling 6,760.96 ) plus VAT. Both will be funded 50% from the Solar Benefit Fund and 50% from the Precept.
- Planning Meeting Policy: All planning meetings are legally open to the public, and where possible, planning applications will be discussed at full Parish Council meetings in the future.
Community Projects & Services
- County Councillor Ewert's Report:
- Yellow lines at Tregantle are scheduled to be painted before next March, and new Car Park signs will be erected soon.
- Highways are considering reintroducing "no stopping" signage under the clearway signs on Military Road.
- Councillor Ewert will investigate the Pengelly Hill safe pedestrian access project.
- The possibility of reducing the speed limit in Wilcove, especially given the lack of pavements, will be explored with Highways.
- Memorial Bench: A memorial bench for D Pidgen will be concreted into place by Councillors Bulmer and Lobb.
- Road Improvements: The Antony and Crafthole Circulatory scheme is now defunct. Instead, there will be road improvements in Sheviock and Antony.
- Tree Planting: Councillor Shepherd still has 30 trees to place as part of the Woodland Trust scheme. Additionally, Cherry and Cherry Blossom trees have been planted in Antony in memorial to Councillor Carter.
- Wilcove to Wacker Path: Negotiations for the path project are ongoing.
- Tregantle Parking: Updates on parking issues at Tregantle are linked to the funding bid discussed in the County Councillor's report.
- Wilcove Jetty: Councillor Knott will follow up on the installation of "no parking" signs at Wilcove Jetty.
- Path Clearing: A path clearing project opposite Carew Arms outside Rose/Elm/Ivy cottage is awaiting Cornwall Council action.
- Antony Playpark: New swing seats have been purchased and replaced in Antony Playpark.
- Defibrillator Relocation: The defibrillator previously housed in the Antony phone box will now be located on the side of the Carew Arms.
- Tree Preservation Order: A Tree Preservation Order for a tree near Carew Arms is awaiting approval from Cornwall Council.
Financial Updates
- Asset Register: The updated Asset Register as of June 30th, 2021, was reviewed and approved by the Council, totaling ( \textsterling 30,296 ). This includes writing off old swing seats.
- Solar Benefit Fund: The Solar Farm Community Benefit Fund report was approved. The fund has a brought forward balance of ( \textsterling 9,923.34 ), with ( \textsterling 3,578.50 ) available for Antony and ( \textsterling 6,344.84 ) for Wilcove.
- Payments Approved: A total of ( \textsterling 1,848.44 ) in payments were approved for various services including grass cutting, clerking costs, play area improvements, and maintenance.
Planning Applications
- PA21/01782/81 Sunwell Farm Extension: This application was approved by Cornwall Council on March 16th, 2021.
Important Information
- Reporting Anti-Social Crime: Torpoint police encourage residents to report anti-social crime using the online portal 101 or by calling 101.
- Superfast Broadband: Councillor Bulmer is pursuing the possibility of villages benefiting from superfast fibre broadband through an Openreach government-funded scheme.
