The Parish Council Meeting was held on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, at Antony Village Hall. Notably, no members of the public were in attendance at the public forum section of the meeting.

Key Updates & Decisions

  • The minutes from the previous meeting on January 28th, 2025, were approved as an accurate record.
  • Car Parks: It was confirmed that the car parks at Cawsand and Sainsbury's will not be leased out, and residents with permits can continue to use them.
  • A38 Upgrade: Funding is now in place for the A38 upgrade, which will include the installation of average speed cameras.
  • A374 Dangerous Driving: Concerns about dangerous driving along the A374 were raised. Residents are advised to report any witnessed dangerous activity online to the police.
  • Antony Planter: The damaged planter in Antony will be removed in the new financial year.
  • Antony Play Area: Scrap metal has been removed from the play area, and a review of play equipment will take place after the upcoming elections.
  • Wilcove Phone Box: Books currently in the phone box will be relocated, and a survey will be carried out to assess refurbishment works needed when the weather is dry.
  • Hollong Park Noticeboard: A new location has been identified for the noticeboard, and relocation work will proceed.
  • Antony Trees: Safety work on trees in Antony is ongoing as part of Antony Estates' plan of works.
  • Antony Bus Stop (Carew Arms): The removal of the bus stop opposite the Carew Arms is ongoing, with an update awaited from Plymouth City Bus and Cornwall Council. Police are monitoring dangerous overtaking at this bus stop.
  • Dog Fouling: Several new dog bag dispensers and signs have been installed, leading to an improvement in dog fouling. The Clerk will contact Biffa regarding concerns about the unemptied dog bin in Wilcove.
  • Defibrillator: The project to install a defibrillator outside the Carew Arms is ongoing.
  • Wilcove Tidal Road: Concerns were raised about rubbish (seaweed, wood, plastic, glass) collecting on the tidal road. The Council will contact the responsible agency to arrange for clearing the road using suitable vehicles.
  • Local Maintenance Partnership: The Council resolved to decline the invitation to join the Cornwall Council Local Maintenance Partnership.

Financial Matters

  • The Council reviewed and approved detailed payments for the period.

Community Events & Information

  • VE Day 80th Anniversary (May 8th, 2025): The Council resolved to donate £200 each to the Antony Village Hall and the Wilcove Community Association to help purchase decorations for the commemorations.
  • Upcoming Elections: The deadline for submitting nominations papers for the upcoming elections is Wednesday, April 2nd.
