The Antony Parish Council held its Ordinary Meeting on May 13th, 2025, at Wilcove Community Hall. Key topics discussed included local infrastructure, community amenities, and important updates impacting residents.

Community Updates

  • Wilcove Play Area: Councillor Murray has gathered input from Wilcove residents regarding desired installations for the play area. Further discussions will take place at an upcoming cluster meeting with other local parishes.
  • Wilcove Phone Box: The phone box has been cleared out and is now ready for repairs and painting.
  • Hollong Park Noticeboard: Work to relocate the noticeboard is due to be instructed.
  • Safety Work to Trees in Antony: Ongoing safety work on trees in Antony is part of the planned works for Antony Estates.
  • Dog Bags and Dispensers: Concerns were raised that the dog bin in Wilcove is still not being emptied. Councillor Ewert will investigate this further.
  • Defibrillator outside Carew Arms: Installation of the defibrillator is ongoing.

Local Services & Infrastructure

  • Road Quality: The County Councillor reported that roads are a particular issue raised by the public. Councillor Murray questioned if the reduced bitumen percentage used in road surfaces has impacted quality, and Councillor Ewert will investigate this.
  • "No Mow May": Cormac has acknowledged "No Mow May" and will leave safe areas uncut, while other areas will remain on their cutting schedule.
  • Antony Crossing / Bus Stop:
    • The removal of the bus stop opposite the Carew Arms is ongoing.
    • Police are currently monitoring the area due to vehicles dangerously overtaking buses at the bus stop.
  • Wilcove Tidal Road: Cormac is responsible for clearing this highway. Residents are requested to send report numbers to Councillor Ewert when the road requires additional attention.
  • Petrol Pump Incident in Antony: Police are actively addressing the incident involving a planter covering the petrol pump.

Planning & Licensing

  • Pen Blyth Planning Application (PA25/02077): The Council had no objection to this application, and the Clerk will register this position on the Cornwall Planning portal.
  • Street Trading Application (Zinn's Coffee & Cake): The Council had no objection to this application, and the Clerk will register this position.

Important Information for Residents

  • Meeting Minutes: Parish Council meeting minutes will now only be published on the parish council website and will no longer be added to village noticeboards. Future agendas will include directions on where to find the minutes online.

The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 26th, 2025, at 7pm, at Antony Village Hall.
