The Antony Parish Council held its meeting on May 14th, 2019, addressing several ongoing community matters, reviewing financial reports, and approving new leadership for the year.

Key Updates

  • New Leadership Elected: Councillor Carter was elected as Chairman for 2019/20, and Councillor Coward was elected as Vice-Chairman for the same period.
  • Yonderberry Refuelling Jetty: Work on the Jetty appears to have stopped. Councillor Knott will contact Torpoint Town Council for an update.
  • Parish Noticeboards: The Antony Noticeboard has been varnished. The latch needs adjusting now that the varnishing is complete.
  • Wilcove Speeding & Unsocial Behaviour: The issue regarding speeding cars and unsocial behaviour in Wilcove appears to have resolved itself.

Community Projects & Amenities

  • Wilcove Woodland Walk: Repairs have been completed by Carter Excavations, with costs nearly 50% less than another quoted price.
  • Pengelly Hill Sign: The Council is awaiting further communication from Cornwall Council regarding the sign.
  • Horson Straight Footpath: This footpath is scheduled to be strimmed later in the season, allowing wild flowers to seed first.
  • Wilcove Community Playground: Mrs. Caley and Mr. Butcher requested the Parish Council investigate enhancing the Wilcove playpark with additional equipment. Councillor Shepherd has agreed to represent the Council on a new playground Committee and will investigate if the original Committee's documents and bank accounts are still operational.

Finance Matters

  • Bank Balances: As of May 7th, 2019, the Parish Council holds £23,103.67 in its bank accounts, with £7,858.85 specifically allocated for Community Benefit projects.
  • Payments Approved: Total payments of £2,034.02 were approved for May 2019, covering various services and maintenance.
  • Solar Benefit Fund: The Solar Benefit fund report was reviewed and approved. The unspent balance of this fund stands at £7,858.85, which is earmarked for community benefit projects.
  • Asset Management: The updated Asset Management Register, showing a total value of £29,220 for parish assets, was approved.

Planning Applications

The Council reviewed and noted recent planning applications, including:

  • PA18/08145: Higher Tregantle Farm Freathy
  • PA19/01026: 15 Pengelly Park
  • PA19/02109: Hillcroft Antony – The Council agreed to take a neutral stance on this application.
  • Glendale Cottage: An enforcement issue regarding Glendale Cottage is still under investigation by Cornwall Planning.
