The Antony Parish Council met on May 17th, 2018, to discuss various village matters, including new appointments, ongoing community projects, and future plans. Key items covered included progress on playground equipment, local improvements, and upcoming community initiatives.

Key Decisions

  • Council Leadership: Councillor Robert Carter was elected as Chairman, and Councillor Coward was elected as Vice Chairman for the upcoming term.
  • Planning Approval: The council approved planning application PA18/03367 for the installation of a waterless disabled toilet in the garden of Maryfield Church.
  • Safety Mirror Approved: The purchase of a 60cm convex safety mirror for the Wilcove Pengelly Park/Playing Area was approved at an approximate cost of £40. The Clerk will purchase it.
  • Financial Approvals: The council approved the fee for the Playground inspection report, the Clerk's salary for May and June, and the Auditors' fee.

Community Projects & Amenities

  • Flooding Issues: Flooding issues near Coach House and in Wilcove have been successfully addressed and resolved.
  • Playground Equipment: Permission has been granted by Antony Estates for new playground equipment. Councillor Lobb will identify suitable equipment, and the Clerk will complete the application form.
  • Antony Planters: Councillors Coward and Lobb will undertake the planting of the Antony planters.
  • Dangerous Mooring: This issue has been resolved.
  • Playground Repairs: Councillors Lobb and Pidgen will source materials and carry out repairs for the playground in Antony.
  • Wilcove Moorings: The invoice for 2018/19 has been received and paid.
  • Pengelly Close Parking: The issue of scooters and motorbikes causing obstruction on the pavement in Pengelly Close has been resolved.
  • Wilcove Back Edge/Grating: Councillor Carter will investigate this matter.
  • Dog Bins in Wilcove: The Clerk will obtain a price to purchase and install an additional dog bin, following a quote received for emptying a new bin.
  • Road Cleaning in Wilcove: The issue of rotting seaweed and the need for road cleaning in Wilcove has been resolved.
  • Annual Playpark Inspection: The Clerk will organise the annual playpark inspection.
  • Hedges near Hollong Park: Hedges in this area have not yet been trimmed.
  • Fast Food Van: The council has not received a licence application for a fast food van in Antony; the Clerk will investigate this.

Community Safety

  • Police Incidents: Anti-social behaviour was reported in Pengelly Park in February 2018. No incidents were reported in March 2018, and April/May reports are not yet available.

Other Updates

  • Community Network Panel: Councillor Shepherd informed the council that the Community Network Panel has £50,000 available for traffic regulation issues, with ideas for local highways projects to be decided by the end of 2018.
  • Wilcove to Wacker Footpath: Ian Rideout and Tremayne Carew Pole will be invited to the next meeting to discuss this footpath.
  • Antony Community Shop: The Community Shop in Antony has now closed.
