Community Updates & Projects

  • Antony Church Chippings: The Clerk is continuing to pursue this matter with Paul Allen of Cornwall Council.
  • Flooding Near Coach House: Councillors Coward and Knott are following up on this issue.
  • Pengelly Close Sign: The sign has been successfully relocated.
  • Yonderberry Cottage: The situation regarding construction and rubbish removal has been resolved.
  • Playground Equipment: The application for new playground equipment, supported by Tesco and Groundwork South West, is being completed by the Clerk.
  • Antony Planters: Councillors Lobb and Coward will purchase plants for the village planters.
  • Dangerous Mooring: This issue remains unresolved, and the Clerk will chase up the owner.
  • Parking on Antony Hill: The police reviewed the parking situation and deemed it acceptable.
  • Nuclear Incident Leaflets: The Clerk is awaiting these leaflets from the relevant authorities.
  • Hedges at Wilcove: There has been no reply from Antony Estates regarding the trimming of hedges.
  • "No Dogs" Signs: Councillor Shepherd is arranging for these signs.
  • Defibrillator: Councillors are considering options for a community defibrillator.
  • Wilcove Bonfire Event: This event has been relocated from Wilcove.
  • Antony Playground Repairs: Councillors Lobb and Pidgen are completing necessary repairs following an inspection.
  • Abbotscourt Hedges: The allotment hedges have still not been trimmed, and the Clerk will contact Antony Estates again.
  • Wilcove Moorings Contract: A cheque has been received, but a countersignature is awaited before final payment can be made.
  • Wilcove Newsletter: Councillors Knott and Coward are preparing a contribution for the Wilcove newsletter.

Financial Matters

  • The financial report for 2017/18 was reviewed and approved by all members.
  • Total Funds Available: As of September 29th, 2017, the total funds available were £13,312.36.
  • Parish Council Funds (Excluding Solar Community Benefit Fund): £9,816.36.
  • Solar Community Benefit Fund: This fund currently has £3,496.00 available and has recently supported the Tamar Community Trust Wacker Quay project (£300) and the Wilcove Gardening Club (£60).
  • Outstanding Cheques: Cheques 101346 (dated August 20th, 2017) and 101351 (dated September 1st, 2017) have not yet been presented for payment. Councillor Coward will contact Mr. Vigus regarding these.
  • 2018 Budget & Precept:
    • Forecast costs for 2017/18 are £10,171, with anticipated income of £8,125, projecting a loss of £2,046.
    • To balance the budget, the Precept (the portion of council tax allocated to the Parish Council) may need to be £9,506.
    • The Clerk will explore whether certain expenditures can be covered by the Solar Benefit Fund instead of the main Parish Council budget to potentially reduce the required Precept increase. A 20% precept increase would amount to £8,400, while a 25% increase would be £8,750.

Local News & Incidents

  • Police Incidents:
    • July 2017: One anti-social behaviour incident was reported in Antony Parish.
    • August 2017: Three incidents were reported, including one public order offence, one theft, and one vehicle crime.
  • New Supermarket Plans (Torpoint): Concerns were raised about a new supermarket proposed for the Torpoint Rugby field. The Clerk will contact the Torpoint Clerk to clarify the current plans.
