September 10th 2019
The Antony Parish Council met on September 10th, 2019, addressing various community matters including updates on local amenities, financial reviews, and public safety concerns.
Key Decisions & Discussions
- Wilcove Community Group: Clarification was provided regarding the Wilcove Community group's fundraising efforts for additional play equipment. It was noted that the play area can only accommodate one new piece of equipment, with the remaining space designated for general ball use.
- Dogs in Wilcove Play Area: New information, including a bye-law, has been identified that contradicts previous advice regarding legal action for dogs in the play area. Further investigation is underway to determine who would issue warnings or fines.
Community Projects & Amenities
- Wilcove Play Area: Plans are in motion for repairs to the handles on existing play equipment and the removal of safety matting.
- Pengelly Hill Sign: Cornwall Highways is still in the process of replacing the sign on Pengelly Hill.
- Maryfield House Bushes: The homeowner is still awaited to take action on overgrown bushes at Maryfield House.
- BT Cable (Antony Playground): A problem with the BT cable in Antony Playground has been reported, and Councillor Lobb will follow up to ensure the necessary action is taken by BT.
- Wilcove Playground Hedges: A proposal was made to approach Antony Estates regarding the cutting of hedges in the Wilcove Playground area.
- Wilcove Footpath Sign: The missing footpath sign from Horson to Antony Drive will be replaced. Councillor Knott has kindly offered to obtain the posts and signs free of charge, with the Council covering the installation costs.

Other Updates
- Parking on Antony Hill: Concerns were raised regarding cars parked on the pavement on Antony Hill, forcing pedestrians into the road. Councillor Lobb will speak with the car owner to seek their cooperation in resolving this safety issue.
- Cove Head Community Interest Company (CIC): The Council concluded that it is not within their remit to get involved with the activities of this new CIC in Wilcove at this time.
